Our family history is like a captivating novel, filled with twists, turns, and characters who shaped our existence

The Chosen

We, the chosen, in every family, find one called to discover our ancestors, to give them life again, and to tell their stories with approval. Genealogy isn't just gathering facts; it's breathing life into our past. We are the storytellers of our tribe, called by our very genes. The voices of our ancestors cry out: "Tell our story," and so we do. In uncovering them, we discover ourselves. How many graves have moved me to tears? I've lost count. How often have I said to them, "You have a remarkable family; you'd be proud"? How many times have I felt love as I approached a grave? I can't say. This isn't just about documenting facts; it's about understanding who I am and why I do what I do.

The Bones of My Bones

main imageThe bones here are of my own flesh and blood. It compels action. It instills pride in what our ancestors accomplished, contributing to who we are today. It demands respect for their hardships, losses, and unwavering determination to forge a better life for their families. It fills us with profound pride that our forefathers fought, and some died, to establish and protect our nation. We deeply understand they did it all for us. Equally, we cherish and honor our mothers who struggled to bring us into this world; without them, we wouldn't exist. We love each of them, reaching as far back as memory allows, for they shaped who we are. This is why I meticulously record our family's story as a scribe. It's a call for the next generation to step forward as storytellers, preserving our history and reconnecting with those we never knew.

In each generation, from the depths of time to the present day, there is a thread that binds us—ancestors who are the bones of our bones. They are more than names on a family tree; they are the architects of our existence, the silent storytellers of our lineage.

With each discovery, whether in dusty archives or whispered tales passed down through generations, we breathe life into their stories. We trace their footsteps across continents and centuries, piecing together a mosaic of resilience, triumphs, and quiet moments of everyday heroism.

In their trials and triumphs, we find echoes of ourselves—their courage in adversity, their love that transcends time, their unwavering hope for future generations. Standing before their graves, we feel the weight of their legacy and the profound connection that binds us together.

They call to us through the ages: "Remember us. Tell our story." And so, with reverence and pride, we honor them. For in understanding their journey, we illuminate our own path forward, carrying their wisdom and strength in our hearts. They are the bones of our bones, the foundation of who we are—a testament to the enduring power of family and the timeless bonds that shape our lives.
